WWF has developed a joint information brochure with the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency to discuss the addition of electronic monitoring systems and services on commercial tuna boats in the Pacific region. The Role of Camera Systems and Electronic Monitoring in the Western Central Pacific Fisheries report outlines e-monitoring, how the system collects data, and where the data is sent and processed. Benefits of the systems are discussed, including how it can lead to better monitoring of bycatch and promote better outcomes for the environment. Contact information and implementation are also discussed to guide countries who may be interested in installing the systems on their own commercial fleets.
