A documentary of a WWF South Pacific’s project site for its work on climate change adaptation got a nod in the Television category. The award was organised by the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme as a tribute towards recognising the role of the Pacific reporters in raising awareness of environment issues.

The documentary titled – “Lomawai Coastal Village Conservation” was broadcasted on Fiji One – Fiji’s largest television network. The theme of the 2010 Vision Pasifika Media Award was – “Value Island Biodiversity – it’s our life” in commemoration of the International year of biodiversity.
Television journalist, Ms Rachna Nath was part of the WWF South Pacific’s team on a week-long training where she documented the stories of the people of the Tikina o Wai community and their involvement with the project.

In receiving the award, Ms Nath dedicated her win to the WWF South Pacific and attributed it to her passion for the environment.

“The recognition of the award belongs to WWF as much as it does to me and I want to sincerely thank WWF for working in partnership with Fiji Television on environmental issues that not only affect vulnerable communities here in Fiji, but also the entire Pacific.”

“I have naturally developed a passion for the environment and that is displayed through the environmental conservation stories I have done over the years covering areas of Climate Change Adaptation.”
