Fishing communities from the iQoliqoli Cokovata (iQC), Macuata have decided to work towards placing a ban on a fish species for a year to improve depleting fish stock.

The iQoliqoli Cokovata which consists of the districts of Dreketi, Macuata, Sasa and Mali have chosen to trial the fish species Camouflage Grouper locally known as ‘Kasala’.

The results shared was enabled through funding provided by NZAID and supported through the David and Lucille Packard Foundation which aims at demonstrating effective governance and management approaches for inshore fisheries in Fiji through collaborative national and community driven partnerships.
